Worknet of Merced County provides the following key services to the Business Community:

  • The referral of job seekers who match an employer’s specifications as the result of an extensive assessment and testing process.
     
  • On-the-Job Training (OJT) can be arranged in certain cases to cut the expenses of recruiting, interviewing, and training a new employee. The employer is reimbursed for part of the training expenses.
     
  • Information on hiring tax credits which can result in after tax savings of as much as $37,440 in state income taxes and $8500 in federal income taxes.
     
  • When there are specific industry needs, customized training can be tailored to exactly what you need.
     
  • Consultation and Outplacement Services to companies facing closure, relocation, consolidation, or expansion.
     
  • Vocational training for qualified individuals.

Worknet programs are funded under the Workforce Investment Act, and through coordination with other programs such as SBCC, SCORE, Regional Occupational Programs (ROP), Merced College, Merced Adult School, along with the Employment Development Department, CalWORKs, provides collaboration, and increases our ability to meet the challenges of developing a quality workforce for the 21st Century.
