About Foster Care
Child Welfare Services (CWS) is always searching for good resource parents or families. There are many children in Merced County in need of a loving home. Resource parents or families provide a temporary housing solution while children and parents work toward reunification. When reunification does not work, foster care is utilized until a permanent home is found.
Expectations of Resource Parents or Families
Resource parents or families are expected to provide a safe environment for children where they have access to school, medical services, and social activities. They must also cooperate with the children's activities and with their parents. Resource parents or families are provided with funding to provide the necessities for foster children in their care.
