About Foster Care
Child Welfare Services (CWS) is always searching for good foster families. There are many children in Merced County in need of a loving home. Foster families provide a temporary housing solution while children and parents work toward reunification. When reunification does not work, foster care is utilized until a permanent home is found.
Expectations of Foster Parents
Foster parents are expected to provide a safe environment for children where they have access to school, medical services, and social activities. Foster parents must also cooperate with the children's activities and with their parents. Foster families are provided with funding to provide the necessities for foster children in their care.
