Every child is different and reads at a different level. We always encourage children to read at their readiness level, whether or not it matches their grade level.
The following are our suggestions on readiness levels:
- Picture books focus mainly on colorful illustrations and their accompanying stories. We recommend them for grades K-3.
- Concept books focus key concepts that toddlers and preschoolers are learning: colors, shapes, opposites, numbers, and sizes. They are designated in our online catalog with the word develop.
- Easy Readers are for beginning readers in grades K-2 who want to try reading on their own. Within this category, there are different levels.
- Young Adult section appeals to youth in grades 6-12. Here, they find books that address issues specific to teenagers.
