For more than a decade, the Victim / Witness Assistance Program has been providing essential services to victims and witnesses of crime throughout the County. Our purpose is to ensure that victims and witnesses of criminal offenses will receive fair and compassionate treatment throughout the judicial process.

In addition, the program attempts to alleviate the trauma and devastating effects of crime on the lives of victims and their families.

California Victim / Witness Assistance Program
The California Victim Witness Assistance Program is a statewide effort to provide support services to all types of victims and witnesses of crimes. Merced's program is one of more than 50 programs in California which are funded largely through the Office of Criminal Justice Programs with penalty assessments collected from convicted offenders.
