Epidemiology
Description:
The epidemiologist provides departmental-wide assistance which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Establishes and maintains surveillance activities on notifiable diseases and conditions as per California Administrative Code (17 CCR s 1276).
  • Coordinates outbreak investigations.
  • Assesses the health status/trends of the community.
  • Provides consultations to medical providers, schools and day care programs, agencies, community residents.
  • Prepares clear and concise epidemiological reports and publications.
  • Monitors effectiveness of public health activities.
