Harold L. Nutt, Chief Deputy District Attorney

Born and raised in Colorado, Harold Nutt attended college at Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas, graduating in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement.  He then attended Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles.  In 1987 he was hired as a prosecutor by the San Benito County District Attorney's Office.  During his almost ten years with that office, he rose to the rank of Assistant District Attorney.  Mr. Nutt joined the Merced County District Attorney's Office in 1996 as a Deputy.  He was appointed Chief Deputy District Attorney in 2006.

Robert Carroll, Chief Deputy District Attorney

Robert O. Carroll came to Merced from Los Angeles back in early 1994.  He has been with the District Attorney's office since 2002. Between 1994 and 2002, Mr. Carroll did criminal defense work doing primarily felony trial work.  In 2002, he was hired by the Merced County District Attorney's Office and began his career as a Prosecutor.  He used his skill and knowledge to litigate and try complex felony cases and has successfully tried and convicted everything from burglary, robbery, child molestation, and murder.  In March of 2011, Mr. Carroll was made a Chief Deputy District Attorney.
Pat2 Patrick N. Lunney, Chief of Investigations

Patrick N. Lunney is known as a strong, innovative leader in law enforcement where his career has spanned over 35 years.  Appointed in 1983, he served at the municipal level as the Chief of Police of the City of Merced for 15 years.  In 1999, he was appointed by California Attorney General Bill Lockyer to serve at the state level in the California Department of Justice, Division of Law Envorcement.  He served at DOJ as Director of the Division of Law Enforcement and commanded over 1400 personnel in six Bureaus including, the Bureau of Intelligence, Bureau of Investigations, Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, and Bureau of Forensic Services.  Mr. Lunney was appointed to the position of the Merced County District Attorney Chief Investigator in 2008.

Mr. Lunney graduated from the University of California at Davis with a bachelors of science degree in Biological Sciences.  He then completed a masters degree at the University of Southern California in Public Administration.  He believes in continuing education and most recently completed the prestigious Senior Executives in State and Local Government, a resident program at Harvard University.

Jeannette Pacheco, Administrative Services Director

Jeannette Pacheco was born and raised in Merced County and attended high school and college locally.  She joined the District Attorney's Office in 1993 as a paralegal in the civil division, handling cases involving financial crimes.  In 2003, she began supervising support staff and fiscal services and managing the department's grant programs.  She was promoted to Administrative Services Director in 2006.  Ms. Pacheco oversees the District Attorney's budget, supervises all support services and is responsible for managing administrative services, personnel, and overall departmental operations.
