Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program
The Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) provides health education, nutrition, and psychosocial assessment and referral, if needed, for Medi-Cal-eligible women to improve their health during pregnancy and give their babies a healthy start in life.

Working from the Health Department, the Perinatal Services Coordinator assists local prenatal care provides in meeting CPSP certification requirements and provides them with technical assistance after they are certified.

Going Places
Going Places, funded by the First 5 Merced County Children & Families Commission, provides special transportation and linked healthcare interpretation and culture brokering to children birth through age 5 and women seeking care related to pregnancy.
Going Places is built on a unique partnership of a business entity (VIA Adventures, Inc.), a governmental unit (Merced County Health Department), and a non-profit agency (Healthy House Within a MATCH Coalition).

Parenting Education Program
The Nurturing Parenting Program is a comprehensive parent education program incorporating strategies to enhance parent-child relationships. Classes are held once a week, 2½ hours each session, during a 15-week period. Only Spanish classes available at the Health Department. Child care is not provided.

The $33 fee includes materials and a book. Vouchers for payment may be arranged for some clients. To register for classes

Class participants may be referred by Child Welfare Services, the courts or other agencies, and the general public is welcome.
