Merced County Library - Evening Hours

Merced County Library

The Merced County Library will launch evening hours at five library branches beginning January 14, 2020. This is a six-month pilot project. The Merced County Board of Supervisors will use the Evening Hours Pilot Project to gauge public interest for libraries to be open past 6 p.m. The participating libraries are:

  • District 1 – Livingston Library – Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • District 2 – Merced Library – Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • District 3 – Atwater Library – Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • District 4 – Delhi Library – Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • District 5 – Los Banos Library – Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

In February 2018, the Merced County Library conducted a countywide customer satisfaction survey. The results of this survey showed 82 percent of respondents would like the library to be open in the evenings. In November 2019, the Merced County Board of Supervisors approved the Merced County Library’s Evening Hours Pilot Project.

"Libraries are vital to residents—providing access to information, places for group study sessions, meeting spaces for community groups, as well as free programming for residents such as book clubs, story times, crafting classes, and so much more," said Amy Taylor, County Librarian. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our communities. Thank you to all who support and use our libraries. You asked—we are listening."
