Support includes the physical planning and development, and related social-economic and environmental issues within the County.
The Department is responsible for implementing policy decisions of the Board of Supervisors including the General Plan and the various Specific Urban Development Plans (SUDPs), which guide and influence the physical land use, quality of life, economic development, and protection of natural resources in many unincorporated townships and urban centers.
The Department implements the County's adopted land use policies through the administration and enforcement of zoning, conditional use permits, subdivisions, and other zoning code regulations, which includes the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review and determination for most development projects in the County.
